MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Police say a man brought a handgun into the Wisconsin Capitol and demanded to see Gov. Tony Evers and returned at night with an assault rifle. Department of Administration spokesperson Tatyana Warrick said Thursday that the man, who was shirtless and had a loaded holstered handgun, approached the governor’s office on the first floor of the Capitol around 2 p.m. Wednesday. Warrick says after being arrested on a firearms violation, he returned to the outside of the Capitol around 9 p.m. with an assault rifle and was taken into custody. Evers’ spokesperson declined to comment.
