Shootout In Palomas Kills 2, Injures One

COLUMBUS, NM. -A shootout in the small border town of Palomas (CH), directly across the border from Columbus (NM) kills 2 people.

According to Luna County Sheriff’s officials, the shooting took place Monday morning in Mexico and involved a vehicle parked near the”Pink Store,” a popular tourist attraction.

Police say thevehiclewas parked near the store andhad 4 people inside. At some point, gunmen opened fire on the vehicle, killingtwo of the occupants, wounding one person. Officials add that one person got away unharmed.

According to officials, the unharmed person drove vehicle to Columbus Port of Entry. An air ambulancewas called in andthe wounded person airlifted to El Paso.

Police have no information on the nationality of the wounded person or the 2 dead individuals.

Columbus is some 65 miles west of El Paso.
