Bringing Holiday Joy: The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree in El Paso
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Each year, The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program provides Christmas assistance to families in need across the United States, including El Paso. The program is expanding to serve the elderly. The Salvation Army in El Paso will collect donations of socks, reading materials and blankets for seniors.
The Salvation Army official said they are currently in search of a 5,000 sq. ft. warehouse to store donated items.
The Army's Angel Tree program, which caters to kids aged 0-10, is accepting new toys and clothes. Angel Trees are usually found in malls, Walmart, and Sam's Club stores, and local businesses may also decorate trees with angels for employees and customers to adopt.
Angel Tree registration runs from October 1 to November 1 or until all spots are filled and can be done online at saangeltree.org.
The Angel Tree program, alongside the Red Kettle Campaign, is one of The Salvation Army's most recognized Christmas efforts. Shoppers select cards from a Christmas tree, buy gifts, and return them to The Salvation Army for distribution before Christmas.
