National drug take-back day – El Paso and Las Cruces locations
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- In an effort to prevent addiction, the Drug Enforcement Administration and several local agencies will host the DEA's 'National Prescription Drug Day;' taking back old prescription medications across the country.
Local police and sheriff's departments will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs. The DEA says old, unwanted, or expired medications too often become a gateway to addiction.
Below is a list of drop-off sites in El Paso and Las Cruces.
El Paso locations
- Corpus Christi Catholic Church
- DEA El Paso Division Office -- Federal Justice Center
- El Paso County Constable -- Precinct 1
- El Paso County Sheriff's Office
- El Paso County Sheriff's Office -- Vinton Patrol Station
- El Paso Police Department -- Northwest Regional Command
- El Paso Water Utilities
- Franklin High School
- Horizon Police Department
- Texas Department of Public Safety
- University of Texas at El Paso -- Campbell Building
Las Cruces locations
- Las Cruces Police Department -- East Mesa Public Safety Complex
- Las Cruces Police Department -- Elks Lodge
- Las Cruces Police Department -- Walgreens on West Picacho
Drop-off locations will not take syringes, sharps, or illicit drugs.
The DEA says liquid products should remain sealed in their original container, and the cap should be tightly sealed.
