Texas Teenager Drowns After Falling Into Nashville Lake

NASHVILLE, TN. (AP) – A 16-year-old Texas boy drowned after falling into a public lake, police said.

The victim was identified as Fabian Martinez of Dickinson, Texas, who died Sunday after an accident at Percy Priest Lake. Officials said the teen and his 14-year-old brother were in Nashville to visit their aunt.

Martinez was last seen walking in the water near the shoreline, but his family didn’t realize he had fallen in until they got ready to leave and couldn’t find him. “He was out on the water walking on rocks and didn’t know how to swim,” Capt. Rich Foley said.

“He might have slipped off the rocks into a drop-off.” His brother found the 16-year-old unconscious about 20 feet from the shore. He was pronounced dead at Summit Medical Center.
