Animal Hoarding Investigation Leads Officials To Disturbing Discovery

EL PASO, TX – The investigation into the latest case of animal hoarding in Doa Ana County led authorities to two homes in northeast El Paso – where they found a disturbing sight.

Evidence of possible dogfighting was present at the two homes; located at Wedge Lane and Creston street. Both homes are owned by two brothers: Duryea and Daron Scott of El Paso.

A total of 21 pit bull terriers were found inside the two homes, police say. According to them, the living conditions for the dogs at the two homes were “pretty bad,” with very little food and water.

Several of the dogs were found to be dehydrated and authorities later removed the dogs from the two homes. Doa Ana County Sheriffs Department Spokesman Bo Nevarez tells ABC-7 all of the dogs were taken in by the Humane Society.

Nevarez also stated paraphernalia indicating the dogs were being used for dog fighting was found at both homes. Investigators did not reveal what type and how much paraphernalia was found.

Charges have not been filed against the two brothers.
