ABC-7 Xtra focuses on pedestrian safety this Sunday night

The tragic death on Wednesday of 7-year-old Alexa Barrera is raising the issue of pedestrian safety, especially in school zones.

Alexa and her sister were struck by an SUV Wednesday morning while they were in a marked crosswalk near Roberts Elementary School in West El Paso. Alexa was killed, her sister suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Pedestrian safety is the topic this Sunday of ABC-7 Xtra. Guest host Stephanie Valle was on ABC-7 at Four Friday with a preview of the show. Her guests include a representative from the El Paso Police Department’s Safe Communities program, the interim chief of the El Paso ISD Police Department, and Jennifer Wright with TxDOT.
