Body Of Missing Fabens Woman Found

FABENS, TX. – El Paso County Sheriff’s Officials have identified the body of a woman found in a canal as that of 68 yr-old Inez Rodriguez of Fabens.

An unidentified woman walking near the canal came upon the body and notified the Sheriff’s Office. Rodriguez had been missing since Sunday, August 12, a family member saying that she had last seen Rodriguez on Saturday evening after 11:00 p.m.

Family members suspected that Ms. Rodriguez had gone for a walk in the early morning hours of Sunday and may have become disoriented and lost. Rodriguez allegedly suffers from dementia and had recently had a medical procedure performed on one of her legs. She had not been out for a walk in several weeks as a result and family members assumed this is why she had left.

When Rodriguez didn’t return, family members were informed to contact the Sheriff’s Office. The body was found in what Sheriff’sofficials describe as “rugged terrain, almost impassable” near the canal. They say the body was not in plain view and was hidden in some high brush and weeds.

EPCSO is treating this death as a homicide until ruled otherwise by physical evidence. Officials say the preliminary investigation shows no apparent trauma was visible and an autopsy is pending.
