DA Man Arrested After Cutting 5 Yr-Old.
DONA ANA, N.M. – A Dona Ana County man is in jail, charged with child abuse after allegedly cutting a young girl who was trying to stop him from fighting with her mom!
He then allegedly refused to let anyone takethe young girlto the hospital. 34-year-old Ruben Santos is also charged with false imprisonment, a fourth degree felony and battery against a household member.
Dona Ana County Sheriff’s investigators say Santos was punching and kicking the girl’s mother, who is his fiancee. So the 5-year-old tried to, quote “save mommy.” That’s when Santos allegedly cut the girl.
Investigators say Santos refused to let the mother leave the house and ask for help. Santos was also wanted on three outstanding warrants. They involved traffic violations equaling $9,000.
