UTEP scores 120 points in season-opening win against McMurry, 120-71

EL PASO, Texas - The UTEP men's basketball team started the season with a strong statement after scoring 120 points in the win against McMurry.

The Miners start the season 1-0 as head coach Joe Golding begins his third season at the helm of the Miners.

UTEP had 8 players in double figures.

UTEP's Elijah Jones led the way in scoring for the Miners with 19 points.

The Miners shot 65% from the field, 48% from 3-point range, and had a total of 46 rebounds.

UTEP will get to enjoy the comforts of home for their next game, Thursday against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.

Tip-off for the game is at 7 p.m. from the Don Haskins Center.
