Early Morning Standoff In East EP Home

EL PASO, TX. – Several streets are blocked off in an eastside neighborhoodin the predawn hoursafter a man allegedly threatens his family with a gun.

It all started around 1:30Friday morning on the 10,000 block of Saigon, near Album. Police were called out to the home because of a family fight, when they got there, they found a woman and four other family members, children included, outside the home. The woman’s husband was barricaded in the home with a handgun.

Police say the woman told them a fight between her and her husband escalated to the point where he threatened her and the rest of the family with a gun. At that time police attempted to talk the man out of the home, for about an hour, unsuccessfully, it was then that the S.W.A.T.and hostage negotiation team were called to the scene.

They began to set up a perimeter around the home, but before they could complete this, the man surrendered. El Paso Police say he is facing five charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. No one was injured in the incident.
