UPDATE: 9 vehicles involved in deadly fiery crash on Loop 375 in Far East El Paso
UPDATE: El Paso Police are now saying that 9 cars were involved in the crash.
The person who died is a 28-year-old man, according to police, but officials have not released his name "pending notification." He died at the scene.
An investigation revealed a heavy tow truck driver was travelling north on Loop 375 when traffic began to slow down due to congestion. The driver, 50-year-old Antonio Zubia, tried to swerve to avoid hitting another vehicle, but could not.
The crash caused a chain reaction of collisions, causing all but two vehicles to catch fire.
All other drivers were taken to a local hospital.
This is the 68th traffic death this year compared to 63 at this time last year.
UPDATE: The El Paso Fire Department said seven vehicles were involved in a crash that killed one person and injured eight people Wednesday night.
Officials said the fire has been put out.
The Fire Department said seven of the victims are expected to recover. One suffered serious injuries.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The Texas Department of Transportation is reporting that three cars are on fire along Loop 375 near Montana.
All lanes are blocked and there is a massive back up in the area. Avoid driving in this area if possible.
The fires started just after 5:30 p.m., according to the TXDOT traffic app.
