Rio Rancho Officer Crashes Motorcycle In Bush Motorcade

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.(AP) – A Rio Rancho police officer who crashed his motorcycle this afternoon while riding in a motorcade for President Bush has died.

His name has not been released, but Albuquerque police spokeswoman Trish Hoffman said he had been with the Rio Rancho department since 2005. Before that, he was with the University of New Mexico police department. The president flew into Albuquerque for a fundraiser for Republican Senator Pete Domenici.

A Honolulu police officer died when his motorcycle crashed while he was part of a presidential motorcade traveling across Hickam Air Force Base last November. In February 2006, a Bernalillo police officer was slightly injured when his motorcycle went down while he was helping escort Bush’s motorcade on Interstate 25.
