Victim Of LC Motorcycle Crash Identified

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The man who died Tuesday night as a result of a motorcycle accident on west Amador Ave. in Las Cruces has been identified as 28-year-old Michael Brad Harrell.

According to reports and accident investigators, a deputy from the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Department was in a marked unit andbegan pursuing Harrellin an attempt to stop the motorcycle as it headed west on Amador Ave. at a high rate of speed. The accident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on Amador Ave. near the 17th St. intersection when Harrell apparently lost control of his 2007 Yamaha.

Harrell was flown by air ambulance to Thomason Hospital in El Paso, Texas, where he was pronounced dead. Reports indicate Harrell was wearing a helmet. Preliminary investigations suggest speed and alcohol may have been factors in the accident.

Las Cruces Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
