Commissioners Approve Lower County Tax Rate

EL PASO, TX – County homeowners will not pay less taxes than last year despite a County Commissioners vote that approved a lower tax rate.

Monday, commissioners set the 2008 County Tax Rate at .36026.With the new rate, ahomeowner with aproperty valued at $100,000 will have to pay $360 in property taxes.

Although the newtax rate is slightly lower than the 2007 rate, most tax payments will not be lower for most homeowners. Due to a rise in home values, the new tax rate will only serve to keep tax rates stable.

Homeowners who did not see an increase inproperty value will see a slight drop in their tax bill.
