Three Suspects Caught Burglarizing Vehicle In El Paso’s Lower Valley

EL PASO, TX. – Two men and a womanare caught in the act by members of the El Paso Police Department’s Mission Valley Tactical Unit trying to burglarize a vehicle.

Just minutes after midnight, officers observed 33-year old Alfredo Morales Jr., 20-year old Manuel Alberto Martinez, and 23-year old Georgina Ruland burglarize a parked vehicle. The officers were conducting surveillance in the area due to reoccurring burglary of vehicles in the vicinity.

As the officers were watching the area they observed the three approach a 1981 Oldsmobile. Ruland acted as a lookout while both Morales and Martinez made entry into the vehicle and began to take items. The officers immediately approached identifying themselves as El Paso Police Officers and displaying their badges.

The three began to run from the officers dropping various items of property that had been taken from the vehicle. After, afoot pursuit ensued and one Tac officer caught up to Morales. Morales turned and confronted the officer and began to assault the officer. After a brief struggle Morales was placed in custody with assistance from other officers.

Martinez was taken into custody without incident nearby. Another assisting unit located Ruland and took her into custody without incident. The three are being charged with Burglary of Vehicle. Morales and Martinez are being charged with Evading Arrest and or Detention. In addition Morales was also charged with Assault on Public Servant. All three were booked into the El Paso County Jail.
