Two More West Nile Virus Deaths Announced
EL PASO, TX. – The El Paso County Health District is reporting there have been two more deaths from West Nile Virus infection.
The latest victims area 77-year old hispanic woman and a 69-year old male. The woman lived in the 79903 zip code which is near the Interstate 10 and U.S. Highway 54 interchange, El Paso ‘Spaghetti Bowl’. The woman developedsymptoms on August 30th, was then hospitalized and died on Tuesday, September 11th.
The man lived in the 79932 zip code and first showed symptoms on August 14th. He was hospitalized on August 26th and died on Friday, September 14th. To fight this on-going problem, Vector Control says they continue to fog various parts of town.
But wind above 10 miles per hour and the rain has hindered their efforts. Another problem Vector Control has notedis the presence ofoutdoor pools which are essentially huge reservoirs of standing water.
The Health District also announced Monday, the number of infectioncases has grown to 30 with 22 of them confirmed.
