UTEP Football Traveling To Buffalo For 2008 Season Opener

EL PASO, TX. – UTEP is scheduled to open its 2008 football season at the University of Buffalo.

School officials confirmed the home-and-home scheduling move Wednesday but Athletic Director Bob Stull declined any further comment.

The Miners will travel to Buffalo for an Aug. 28th game and will play host to the Bulls, who are Division 1-A, on Labor Day weekend in 2009.

Buffalo, like UTEP, is 1-2 this season. The Bulls, who play in the Mid-American Conference, are coached by former Nebraska quarterback Turner Gill, who according to UTEP officials is a friend of Miners’ head coach Mike Price.

UTEP, which is a member of Conference USA, has never played Buffalo. The Miners will also play host to the University of Texas next season at the Sun Bowl, as well as rival New Mexico State in non-conference play.
