Border Patrol, Sunland Park PD Pursuit Ends In Crash

SUNLAND PARK, N.M. – ABC-7 uncovers newinformationabout an overnight rollover crash onEl Paso’sWestside that involved Sunland Park Police and Border Patrol.

At around 2 a.m. Fridaymorning, officials say a border patrol agent was patrolling Sunland Park when he heard 5 gunshots. He says he saw 7 people arguing near McNutt Rdand Morocco. The agent approached the group, at which point they jumped into a Honda Accord and fled.

The agent then called Sunland Park Police for assistance. Two miles down the road nearGilaDriveand Nueces Drive, authorities stopped the car and one person got out and was taken into custody.Ignoring additional commands from the officers,thosestill in theHondaspedoff again, nearly hittingthe border patrol agent.

Another mile down the road, Sunland Park Police attempted to stop the car and that’s when it rolled. Authorities have not said if anyone will be facing any charges and the condition of the people in the rolledvehicle has not yet been released.
