EL PASO, TX. – A 16-month-old child is dead after being hit by a car driven by his father.

Officials say the accident happened in South-Central El Paso along the 700-block of Val Verde.

According to police,16-month-old Jared Campos followed his father outside Tuesday night when he was moving the family vehicle. Police say nobody noticed the boy behind the car.

Police tell ABC-7 the father unknowingly struck his son when he started moving the vehicle.

Officials add the death appears to be accidental and they have not filed charges.
