Clint ISD Board Gets Top Distinction In State
CLINT, TX — Stateeducation officials have given a specialaward to the Clint ISD Board of Trustees. The panel is now recognized as the Outstanding School Board of Texas for 2007.
The distinction was awarded on Saturday by the Texas Association of School Administrators.
“This award is a direct reflection of the fantastic job that the district’s administration, teachers, and staff members perform on a daily basis for our students,” said Jim Pendell, the president of the school board, via a news release. “The award is also indicative of the dedicated and talented employees that call Clint ISD their home.”
The selection process began in June of 2007 when a nomination packet was submitted to the region, Clint officials said. The Clint board was then selected as the TASA School Board Award recipient for Region 19. According to the news release, that honor sent them to the next level in which they were selected as one of the top five boards in Texas.
The final phase of the competition required the five State Honor Boards interview before a TASA committee.
“We went into the interview with a positive and optimistic outlook. We knew in our hearts we had done everything in our power to give the students of Clint ISD the best education possible. Our job was simply to portray the Clint success story to the interviewing committee,” said Pendell, as quoted in the release.
During the closing session of the TASA convention on Sunday, the five “Honor Boards” were recognized and presented with a plaque. With all fivefinalists on stage, Clint ISD School Board was announced as the winner of the competition, district officials said.
“The award is really a dream come true for our school board. The board is elated by this honor and humbled at the same time,” Pendell was quoted as saying.
