Socorro ISD Superintendent Ticketed For Speeding In A School Zone

EL PASO, TX. – Socorro Independent School District’s Superintendent gets ticketed for speeding in a school zone.

ABC-7’s I-team dug up her court documents thatsay police stopped Dr. Sylvia Atkinson on Edgemere, near El Dorado High School, back on September 17th.

Authorities say she was doing 38 mphin a 20 mph school zone. Atkinson gaveABC-7 astatement.

“Although this area has posted 35 mile-an-hour signs and did not have any lights flashing,I acknowledge and take full responsibility for this infraction. Regardless of the posted speed or whether or not lights are flashing, we should all take extra care when passing through areas near our schools,” Atkinson wrote.

Atkinson ends her statement with an apology. The ticket fine cost her $315 dollars.
