Breast Cancer Survivor Turned Warrior In Pink Honored
EL PASO, TX. – Breast Cancer Awareness month is stirring emotions and charitable work in the hearts of so many El Pasoans.
This weekend,ABC-7 waslucky enough to witness one breast cancer survivor rewarded for her work towards finding a cure.
“When you’re diagnosed with breast cancer, you’re faced with looking death in the face,” said Colleen Marquez.Shewas always a supporter of the cause – up until the moment she was diagnosed herself.
“Feeling sick, not being able to be here at work. You get tremendous bone pain and body aches and pains, you get nausea,” Marquez added.For Colleen, missing work was one of the most depressing things about having cancer!
She works at Shamaley Ford – and depends on the support of her colleagues. And do they support her! “If they see something pink, they buy it for me. My whole house, my entire kitchen is pink. I have a washing machine with a pink ribbon on it!”This weekend,friends and co-workershonored her.
Theypresented Colleen with a matted copy of her profile in El Paso Magazine. Her husband joined the action buying hera personalized, limited edition Susan G. Komen Mustang!
