UPDATE: East El Paso House Fire Caused By Short Circuit

EL PASO, TX. -El Paso Fire Department responded to a fire at a home on the 2400 block of Alan Duncan in east El Paso Monday night.

Fire crews reported heavy smoke coming fromthe 2-story home when they arrived on the scene. The man who lived in the home had escaped with his dog without injury before firefighers arrived.

Investigators with the Fire Marshall’s Office also responded to the scene and determined that electrical wires within the wall next to the fireplace shorted out and overheated causing the fire.

Total damages to thehomeare estimated at $50,000. The Red Cross was called out to the scene to assist the man.
