Socorro Police find grenade on Alameda Avenue

SOCORRO, Texas (KVIA) -- Socorro Police found a grenade on the 11100 block of Alameda Avenue Friday evening.

The department evacuated the area, but say no other precautions are necessary at this time.

The department issued the following statement to ABC-7:

"On December 29, 2023 at 1656 hours officers with the Socorro Police Department were called to the block of 11100 Alameda ave. Officers arrived and were able to determine that the item appeared to be a grenade and requested the assistance of the El Paso Police Department Bomb Squad. The Socorro Police Department evacuated the property and has the immediate scene contained, no other evacuations are necessary at this time."
