Woman’s Remains Found In Luna County

DEMING, N.M. (AP) – A woman’s scattered remains have been found in southern Luna County, north of New Mexico 9, which parallels the U.S.-Mexico border.

Authorities identify her as 21-year-old Alejandra Elizabeth Diaz of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

Authorities say a man on horseback found the remains (Sunday) while he was herding cattle. Luna County Sheriff Raymond Cobos says the remains likely have been in the desert for at least a month or two.

Authorities say the cause of death isn’t immediately known.
