Bliss For More Families As Troops Arrive Home

ByKen Molestina &Veronique Masterson

EL PASO — Overnight, hundreds more soldiers with the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division made it home to their relieved families.

The brigade’s commander, Colonel Stephen Twitty, was one of the hundreds of soldiers who arrived when the planes touched down at Biggs Army Airfield. Over 3,000 Fort Bliss soldiers have returned in recent weeks, and about a thousand more are expected by the end of the year.

Twitty explained how pleased he was with the progress his command has made in Iraq over the past 15 months. The inroads in the fight against terrorism and training of Iraqi security forces are among the accomplishments he noted.

But he said the job isn’t finished. “As you know, we’re still at war. That means we quickly get back on the ground here, we take a little rest and relaxation and go back to training,” Twitty said. “We must keep the momentum up because you never know when we’re called again to go serve this great nation.”
