Armed Man Arrested At Sunland Park Mall

EL PASO — Police arrested a man on Friday morning at Sunland Park Mall on suspicion that he was carrying a gun.

Up to 16 police units came out to investigate at a Dillard’s store after dispatchers were alerted around 10:30 a.m.

The man ran into the store when he noticed police had arrived, and officers chased after him, authorities said.

Officers caught up with the man as he entered one of dressing rooms in a women’s apparel department, police said.

Police placed him under arrest and discovered he was armed with a gun, officers said.

The suspect has only been identified as a man in his mid-20s.

The incident stems from a domestic dispute, a police spokesman confirmed. No injuries were reported in the incident that occurred at the mall.

More details will be posted here as they become available.
