Funeral Plans Announced For Slain Officer

LAS CRUCES — Funeral arrangementswere announced Saturdayfor SusanKuchma,the New Mexico State Police officerwho waskilled this past week.

Kuchma died on Thursday after she was shot once in the head. Authorities are holding her 25-year-old son, Justin Quintana, in connection with the shooting. Quintana said his mother’s slaying was accidental, according to court records.

Documents indicated he borrowed the revolver from his mother’s home, and that it slipped from his hand and a round was fired.

Visitation for Kuchma is scheduled infor 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.Monday, at the Santa Maria de la Paz Church in Santa Fe.

Funeral services willoccurat 10 a.m. Tuesday at the same church, with burial to follow.
