Nominations For Middle School’s New Name Being Accepted

By Stephanie Valle

EL PASO — Nominations for the new name for Cordova Middle School are being accepted by EPISD only through the end of the week, with some notable El Paso personalities generating their own individual buzz.

Some names that have been suggested include “Nemo” Herrera, a former baseball coach with the district, El Paso astronaut and UTEP graduate Danny Olivas, radio personality Steve Crosno and Sheriff Leo Samaniego.

Board Trustee Carlos Flores said he had high hopes for whatever the final choice would be.

“We really hope that the name will come from the community, and will be a name that the school, the campus, the students, and the people that live in that community will feel proud of,” Flores said.

Submissions are being accepted through January 11th and thenomination form can be found by clicking the link above.
