Battle Of I-10 Isn’t Just Another Game, Coach Barbee

A little advice for UTEP’s second-year basketball coach, just in case he’s trying to figure out why less than 10,000 showed up at The Don on Tuesday to see his Miners beat the Aggies.

Tony (Coach Barbee), don’t spoil things for us. Prior to the Battle of I-10, you were seen stating on ABC-7 that it was “just another game” and “just like the Texas Southern game.”

Playing the Aggies will never be like playing Texas Southern for Miner fans. And the sooner you ditch the coach-speak and start helping the athletic department sell tickets, the sooner you’ll sell out a game for the first time in your two-year tenure.

Nobody likes the out-of-town guy that comes in here and tells us our rivalry is “just another game.” Maybe to you.
