UPDATE: Convenience Store Attacker Still On The Loose

ANTHONY, NM — Investigators with the Dona Ana CountySheriff’sDepartmentare still looking for a man who attacked a store clerk on Saturday.

The incident happened along the 2800 of Anthony Drive.

The victim, Juan Lopez, 60,told investigatorshe was startled when his attacker aimed a gun at him and pulled the trigger. However, the gun jammed up and did not fire.

The attacker thenwrestled Lopez tothe ground and started assaultinghim, before leaving the premises.

Investigators said Lopez had to be treated for an open wound in the back of his head, and several other cuts on his face.He was treated at an area hospital and has been released.

ABC 7 has since learnedthe victim receivedfour metal clamps to secure a laceration on the back of his head. He also complained of pain to his left arm and had visible abrasions and cuts on his face.

Dona Ana County Sheriff’s investigators say the attacker drove off in a small, two-door car, blue in color.Anyone with information is asked to call(575) 525-1911.
