Motorcyclist Killed In Crash Was A Fort Bliss Soldier

EL PASO — A motorcyclist may have been speeding when he crashed intoabig rigon a dark street near thelocal airport,special traffic investigators said.

It happenedat the intersection of Walter Jones Blvd. and Spur Lane, officerssaid.

Garfield Green, a soldier at Fort Bliss, died at the scene. Officers think Green may have clipped the back end of the semi-truck that was making a turn. Police confirm he was wearing a helmet.

The driver of the truck, Juan Castro, 58, was not hurt, and no charges were immediately pending against him.

Multiple emergency units responded to the scene and police officers were on hand to divert traffic away from the crash.
