NMSU To Mark Domenici’s Retirement

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) – Pete Domenici pitched at UNM, but that won’t stop New Mexico State University from presenting him with a baseball jersey.

NMSU President Michael Martin says the senator’s kindness and generosity to the university make him a valuable friend. The retiring senator graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1954.

On the diamond, the right-hander played for coach under George Petrol, going 14-3 as a senior and earning all-conference honors. Domenici says NMSU has always been a good partner to him and he’s grateful for the tribute.

Martin plans to give Domenici a framed Aggies baseball jersey. It will bear the number 36, signifying the number of years Domenici has represented New Mexico in the U.S. Senate.
