New Statewide School To Be Established In NM

SANTA FE (AP) – A statewide residential high school for the performing and visual arts will be established under a bill signed by Governor Richardson.

The school will be in Santa Fe and is expected to open in the fall of 2009.

No tuition will be charged for the students selected to attend the taxpayer-financed public charter school.

But residential students will pay for room and board on a sliding scale based on family income.

Scholarships will be available from private fundraising to help defray those costs.
