EP Police Officers Association Holds Blood Drive

EL PASO — The El Paso Municipal Police Officer’s Association helda blood drive this weekend at Memorial Hall.

The blood drive took place from ten in the morning to two in the afternoon on both Saturday and Sunday.

“The response has been great,” said Robert Gomez, the vice president of the association. “The community response has been overwhelming, we’ve had a continues flow of people since the event started,” he said.

Officials with the association say they witnessed — first-hand –the need for blood in our community when their president, Bobby Holguin, and his wife were involved in a serious motorcycle accident several weeks ago.

Holguinremains in critical but stable condition and has already received several litters of blood donated by selfless El Paso residents.

Officials say the association wanted to come together to gathermuch-needed blood donations for the community.

“This is just a way for the police officers to replenish the blood Holguin and his wife used back to the community,” said Gomez.

Members of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the El Paso Fire Department also showed up to donate blood.
