Air Force Member Accused Of Killing Fellow Airman
ALAMOGORDO, NM — New Mexico State Police and the Alamogordo Police Department are investigating a shooting which took placelast weekat the Hampton Inn in Alamogordo, located off of White Sands Boulevard, room 202.
At approximately 5p.m. on Friday, a Gerard Parvilus, 33, of the United States Air Force came into the New Mexico State Police Office in order to turn himself in, for being absent without leave (AWOL).Parvilus was accompanied by his wife, Jahaira Parvilus,officers said.
While Parvilus was giving his statement to authorities, his wife stated that he hadkilled a man, authorities said.Officers thenlearned that there had been an altercation at the Hampton Inn, and placed Gerard Parvilus into custody.
Officers said the later discovered the body of Pierre Smith, whom authorities also discovered was a member of the U.S. Air Force. From the scene, investigators recovered one semi-automatic handgun, one revolver and two knives that they believe were connected with the crime.
Investigators believe that this crime occurred due to a possible affair betweenthe suspect’s wifeand Smith,authorities indicated in anews release.
The investigation will continue, law enforcement officers said.
