Hearing For Renteria Re-Sentencing Begins
EL PASO, TX — Jury selection began Wednesday for there-sentencing of notorious murdererDavid Renteria.
Renteria was sentenced to death for the brutal killing of five-year-old Alexandra Flores. He abducted heroutside an El Paso Wal-Mart in 2003.
However, acourt of appeals threw that sentence out. The court ruled prosecutors claimed Renteria never expressed remorse for the crime, when in fact, he did.
The District Attorney’s office says it will again seek the death penalty for Renteria. However, ifhe gets a life sentence, Renteria could possibly be eligible for parole in 40 years.
