According to El Paso Fire Dept. spokesperson Enrique Duenas, it's been a busy last couple of weeks for fire crews.
"We've had several fires, some of them even fatal, so we have seen an uptick. Usually we see that during the spring summer months," said Duenas.
According to the fires reported by the El Paso Fire Dept. on X.Â
Since the beginning of the year, there have been about 12 fires, and 4 deaths.Â
"Lately, we've had a couple of fires that have been caused by people smoking cigarettes inside of the house. So this is something we also reminded people all the time, not just cigarettes, candles, anything that has combustion inside of their home," said Duenas.
