Family Thanks ABC-7 For Help In Ruidoso Evacuation

My family and I want to thank KVIA Channel 7 for their help in getting us evacuated from Ruidoso Uppper Canyon Campgrounds on July 27th.

My daughter tried to get us help from many people but no one would help, until she contacted Maria from your newsroom. Maria gave my daughter several numbers and by Maria’s determination we began to see helicopters overhead then a few hours later my family was air lifted out by the National Guard and on the following day our husbands were evacuated, having to leave all our things behind.

This was a unforgettable frightening experience being rapidly surrounded by rushing water. We returned this Sunday to get some of our personal belongings. We were amazed by the devastation that was left behind. We have video and pictures of the before and after to remember how lucky we are that we were able to get out with the efforts of our family and KVIA.

From the bottom our hearts we thank everyone that helped us get out.
