Deputy Constable Investigation

EL PASO, Texas – Only ABC-7 is following allegations of abuse against an El Paso County Deputy Constable.

A father and son claim Deputy Constable Mario Ramos beat them up during a traffic stop near Clint last month.

The Montes family told ABC-7’s I-TEAM they tried to file a complaint against Ramos at precinct 6, but they said they were intimidated by Constable Alex Gamboa and others. They family has since filled a complaint against Ramos with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Department.

Gamboa denies the intimidation accusations. He said the family never followed through with the complaint. He told the I-TEAM Deputy Ramos was acting in self defense during the scuffle.

In a check of Ramos’ background ABC-7 found he had worked for the Anthony and Socorro police departments. He left both agencies after allegations of various miscounduct, but before any formal investigations were completed.

They family has since filled a complaint against Ramos with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Department.

The Contable’s Office stand by Ramos who is currently on active duty, but not working on the streets.
