UTEP Graduate Named President Of Illinois College

A UTEP graduate has been named president of Morton College, a community college in Cicero, Illinois, school officials announced Thursday.

Leslie Navarro will be the first female and the first Latina president in the school’s history. Navarro had been the college’s interim president since May 1.

The community college in Illinois serves more than 5,000 currently enrolled students through 56 full-time faculty members, 178 adjunct faculty members, 70 full-time staff members and 200 part-time staff members, officials said.

According to a news release, Navarro earned her B.A. from UTEP, a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Texas, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy (majoring in Education Administration) from the University of Texas.
