BACK TO THE HOUSE – Bailout Plan
WASHINGTON (AP) – The revised financial rescue package is headed back to the House after passing easily in the Senate 74-25.
This time the bill is loaded with billions of dollars worth of tax cuts and other items meant to attract at least a dozen House members who voted against the measure Monday.
California Republican David Dreier says he plans to vote for the rewritten financial industry bailout bill when it comes to the House, even though he “hated” the version that went down there earlier this week.
Dreier said this morning on ABC’s “Good Morning America” that he has been hearing from many constituents worried about their personal finances.
Democrat Marcy Kaptur of Ohio, also interviewed on ABC, said she believes problems in the markets and financial industry should be solved in the private sector, without government intervention. She said, “I will not support this legislation because it is the wrong medicine.”
