Karla was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and moved to El Paso when she was 3. She is a graduate of Eastwood High School and graduated from UTEP with a degree in Electronic Media. Karla has been at KVIA not once, but twice. She started as an Administrative Assistant in 1999. She moved on to Los Angeles, where she worked in Affiliate Relations for ABC network. When she returned El Paso in 2001, she rejoined KVIA and is now Program Director and is also part of the Storm Track Weather team. Karla is currently pursuing a meteorology certification from Mississippi State University.

Aside from her daytime television job, Karla does freelance work in TV production for sporting and special events for companies like CSTV and ESPN. She is also part of the MinerVision crew for all of UTEP’s home football and basketball games.

Karla has a wonderful family who she loves very much and enjoys spending time with. She also likes to spend quality time with her friends. She is a runner and has run the Rio Grande and Long Beach Marathons. Karla has danced most of her life. She has danced in “The Nutcracker” with Ballet El Paso, and has danced jazz and hip-hop competitively and professionally. She is also a world traveler who has visited the Holy Land, Europe, Russia and Thailand to name a few.
