El Paso Street Named To List Of Nation’s ’10 Great Streets’

A street in Downtown El Paso has been designated one of the American Planning Assocation’s 10 Great Streets for 2008, APA officials announced Wednesday.

In a news release, APA officials said they chose South El Paso Street because of “its historical architecture, unique bi-cultural heritage, and community activism connected with protecting and maintaining the street’s character.”

South El Paso Street leads to the Santa Fe Bridge in Juarez on its southern end and on its northern end contains some of El Paso’s most well-known structures, including the Plaza Theatre and the Camino Real Hotel.
