ABC-7 First Alert – Extreme heat continues through Friday

Brutally hot weather continues. This afternoon is now the hottest so far this year with high temps hitting 108 in El Paso and 107 in Las Cruces. Las Cruces hit a record high - the old record was 106. I expect more of the same tomorrow. There will be a slight chance for a thunderstorm during the afternoon and evening Friday although most folks will likely stay on the dry side. Along with some isolated storms, there could be some gusty winds around storms. That could cause some blowing dust and sand.

Temps will cool a little over the weekend with highs in the lower 100's.
