The El Paso coliseum and ice skating rink saved
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA)-- General Services Administration (GSA) have removed the El Paso coliseum and ice skating rink from their plans to modernize the Bridge of the Americas (BOTA).
El Paso County Commissioner, David Stout says this is the outcomes he hoped for. Stout says now the focus is on the healthy of the people in the neighborhood. “I will continue working to reduce the unfair burden of pollution on the neighborhoods of South-Central,” said Commissioner Stout. “
A public meeting will be held June 26th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Hilos de Plata Senior Center at 4451 Delta Drive. During the meeting present three alternatives for the modernization of the Bridge.
- No Action
- Viable Action Alternative 1a- Multi-level Modernization (high/Low Booths) Primarily within Existing Port Boundaries with Minor Land Acquisition Immediately Adjacent to the Port and Additional Land Acquisition to the East (13 acres) No El Paso County land to be acquired.
- Viable Action Alternative 4- Multi-level Modernization within the Existing Port Boundaries with Minor Land Acquisition Immediately Adjacent to the Port and Elimination of Commercial Cargo Operations. No El Paso County or TXDOT DPS land to be acquired.
