Council Approves Deal With Western Refining

El PASO, Texas — City Council approved a new $19.1 million deal with Western Refining to provide diesel and unleaded fuel for city vehicles, including police and fire vehicles. The deal is for three years with two one-year options.

The vote was unanimous in Tuesday’s Council meeting, with Susie Byrd absent.

City vehicles use about 3.3 million gallons of fuel per year. The average cost under the new deal is $1.96 per gallon, which includes a 3.194 cent per gallon discount.

Officials said if the price of gas decreases the city’s amount will decrease as well.
