Texas Money In House Economic Stimulus Plan

(AP) – Some of the highlights from the House version of the approximately $820 billion stimulus package. The amounts were provided by the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and are subject to change by the House and when the Senate passes its version of the bill and before a final bill is signed into law. Numbers, which in most cases represent both 2009 and 2010, are rounded.

TEXAS:

Highways and bridges: $2.4 billion

Mass transit: $336 million

Wastewater treatment and sewer: $265 million

School modernization (K-12 and higher education): $1.7 billion

Pell grant: $1.9 billion (514,748 recipients)*

State budget aid: $5.1 billion*

Head Start: $60 million*

* Includes both fiscal years 2009 and 2010
