NPT: Melina Castro’s Petition To Get On Ballot Rejected
EL PASO, Texas — A municipal clerk rejected City Rep. Melina Castro’s petition for a place on the May 9 city elections ballot, Newspaper Tree reports.
Castro needed to either obtain the signatures of 28 registered voters living in her district or pay $250 to obtain a place on the ballot.
The clerk’s office rejected the petition, which was submitted last week, because only2 of the 50 people who signed the petition live in Castro’s district, according to Newspaper Tree. Castro represents northeast El Paso.
Castro has until March 9 to submit a new petition of pay the fee. She did not return ABC-7’s phone calls Thursday afternoon.
